Crown of Thorns

That moment when you realize the song you’ve been obsessed with for a week has a reason for making you tear up whenever you hear it.

This version is a Pearl Jam cover of the Mother Love Bone original, as sung by the late Andy Wood. i’m including a fan video of the original studio recording because it expresses what’s going on with me better than i could ever dream of being able to.

About Al K Hall

Like a battered drinker or a punch drunk boxer, i am here for another round. For those of you who don’t know me, i’m a semi-professional writer on the rocks and a non-practicing alcoholic (if after 30 years of practicing, you still can't do something well, it's best to just give it up). For those of you who do know me, thanks for stopping by anyway and where’s the ten bucks you owe me? Welcome to my Bar None. A hole in the wall where we can hang out and trade the kind of stories you swap only when you’ve had one too many and either can’t find your way home or are afraid to. Hell, it’s cheaper than therapy and plus the pictures are prettier. Here we’ll crack open bottles and jokes and ‘last call’ are the only dirty words you’ll never hear. Pull up a stool and make yourselves at home. http://about.me/AlKHall

  1. Black By Pearl Jam will always be the #1 song that chokes me up, except for my wedding song- Black gets me every time.

  2. Exactly. Thank you for getting it, Astra.

    Keep coming back,

    Al K Hall

  3. I absolutely love this song! I haven’t heard it in a long long time… It was featured in the move Singles, back in 1992… There is so much in it – Life is what you make it – my favorite line. Hang in there friend!

    • Hi NSL!

Isn’t it great? i’ve been going through a big Mother Love Bone / Temple of the Dog phase lately. Thanks for the wishes, my friend.

      Keep coming back,

      Al K Hall
